Default Trade District

I thought about this yesterday. I think there should be a dedicated, "Trade District" in each of the major towns for each campaign and EoTN(so, Lion's Arch, Kamadan, Kaineng, and whatever Anet decides for EoTN). You could have a permanent, "Trade District" option in the District dropdown menu when you click the icon of that town on the map. You could make it so that the only place that trading can be done in chat is in those districts. This would make it great for people looking to buy things as well too, because you could also make the chat in the Trade Districts limited to PM's/Guild/Alliance/and the Trade Window. The last parts are optional, but I don't see any reason why this wouldn't be viable. I am sure that some of you do, but I think this would be a great way to clean up a lot of Local Chat, and make the districts more conducive to questing/missions/farming/recruiting etc.

It sounds like a good idea, but I'm not sure how difficult it would be to implement :P

Or like a player made thing where
District 1=Weapons
D2=minipets
D3=Miscellaneous

that'd be nice but, but your idea wouldn't get implemented till gw2 cause they won't do it now, and by then they'll have an auction house hopefully so...

That sure does stop the retards from selling/buying/searching on the general chat.
Oh wait, it does not.

If only this was brought up before the party search was implemented, i think it's a great idea but long overdue Great idea though!

And this will? Most people would still be too stupid to use the trade district instead. As long as /reporting them does nothing, it'll still happen.

its a great idea, but it would take ages to develop the districts, time that can be spent on other things (and GW2 ). Itd also always be ridiculously hard to get into, unless it was made a larger district. so /notsigned

/notsigned. I like casually browsing through the random WTB/WTS spam when I pass through towns.

like it, beats searching around every district for something you want, although some sort of place where you can leave items for trade while your offline would be nice

The way trading works now is better than it used to be and I would in fact just like one change.

I appreciate that this game isn't going to get any hard to impliment changes but having the selling and buying separated would make a whole lot of sense and make it a little easier to find stuff.

In the player search section you have 3 sections devoted to getting parties together Mission Quest and Hunting.
That's overkill as the players most in need of finding parties are the inexperienced and those without guilds ie newcomers.
Mostly they will not know the difference between a mission and a quest and are likely to use the wrong section anyway.

However when you are trading much of the time you would be selling or buying not both.
So please if its possible just keep the WTBs and the WTSs separated if another tab isn't possible then I would go for changing the hunting tab.

If you check the traffic in the tabs you will see trade is almost always busy far more so than the others.

I think banning "wts/wtb" etc if you're not in the trade zone isn't too hard.

I think this would be a bad idea.

Spamming in All Chat isn't as big a problem as it used to be, and you can turn the trade chat off if you don't want to watch it. A large number of transactions in GW are spur of the moment, or at least that's the impression I get. If this was implemented where it only allows trading in the trade districts, that would cut out a huge buyer and seller base and make the trade problem that GW has always had far, far worse. Guild Wars already has trade districts, they are in Districts 1-3 or Kamadan, LA, and Kaineng Center.

I don't quite see why this idea is necessary or worthwhile since we basically already have it, it doesn't solve any problems, and it would exacerbate problems that are already there. I may be reading the proposal wrong though. >_>

Which isn't any different to banning "wts/wtb" if you're not typing it in the trade channel. But yet that still hasn't happened.

/not signed. It wouldn't solve any of the problems associated with trading in its current form. The trade chat that shows up in local isn't nearly as bad as it once was, and usually a freindly reminder is enough to take care of trade spam. If it doesn't, there's the /report system, which works well when not abused.

Another consideration is that many times there are more people in Kamadan or LA trying to trade than one district will hold. Then A-net would have to deal with implementing it for all of the different regions/languages.

Lion's Arch AD1 and ID1, and Kamadan AD1 and ID1 are already serving as the trade centers of the game, and there usually isn't an aweful lot of chit-chatting going on in those districts anyway.
